December 3rd, 2011 was the 1st Annual Mid-Atlantic Cold-War CrossFit Competition. Held by CrossFit Liberation in Lorton, in partnership with Operation Ward 57 benefitting wounded soldiers, our CrossFit competitors boldly stepped up take on this grueling fitness challenge.
Our CrossFitters who participated in the Cold War event are as follows:

The Cold War event was the second event for the CrossFit Manassas / Vanguard Gym team, with most of our competitors having participated in the Mid-Atlantic Hopper Challenge back in November.
The CrossFit Manassas team started the day bright and early at 6am, and the scheduled finish time was simply “UTC”, meaning “until completed”. What followed was a long day of team and individual fitness challenges.
In brief, here were the team and individual challenges CrossFit Manssas’ finest had to overcome:
TEAM Challenges:
1) A 5 Mile Weighted Ruck-Run (Rx: 55/35; Scaled: 45/25) with various unique challenges embedded within the Challenge itself.
2) Max Reps Squat Snatch (Teams choose weight/movement prior to start of competition) and Max Row for distance, each determining points for the team.
3) AMRAP: 10 Minutes
-Medicine Ball Chest-to-Bar Pull-ups (Scaled: Pull-ups only)
-Burpee Box Jumps (24/20) (Scaled: Box Jumps)
-Pistols (Scaled: Goblet Squats 52/35)
INDIVIDUAL Challenges:
1) Max Rope Climbs in 3 minutes (Brad)
2) Max Consecutive Double Unders (Ciara)
3) 3 Minutes: Max Reps of Tire Flips (Rx: 750/500 lbs; Scaled: 500/350 lbs.) (Sage)
